Juventus 2-0 Sevilla: Morata and Zaza net in comfortable win

Итальянская команда вышла на верх таблицы группы D ЛЧ после домашней победы благодаря голу головой в первом тайме находящегося в прекрасной форме испанского форварда

The Italian outfit move into top spot in Group D with a home win over their La Liga opponents thanks to a first half header from their in-form Spanish striker

Alvaro Morata made it two goals in as many Champions League games this season as he scored in Juventus’ 2-0 defeat of Seviila.

The victory was deserved after an all-action Juventus performance that barely gave Sevilla a look in, and Morata's effort saw him equal Alessandro Del Piero's record of having scored in five consecutive Champions League matches for the club.

Despite managing just one win in their first six Serie A games, Juventus are now two-for-two in the competition, Morata adding a second crucial goal to the winner he hit at Manchester City two weeks earlier.

The Spaniard rose above two defenders to score with a placed header four minutes before half-time, and Simone Zaza netted a second with a solo run and finish three minutes from the end

Sevilla might have hoped the setting of Juventus Stadium would inspire them, following their 2014 Europa League final victory at the same venue, but the Spanish outfit were given a lesson in Champions League football by their Italian opponents.

Paul Pogba was gifted the game’s first shooting chance within 30 seconds of kick-off when played in by Morata, but the Frenchman lacked his usual composure and lofted his shot over the bar.

In a cauldron of noise, the home side started the game at a frenetic pace and Hernanes bent a shot just wide of Sergio Rico’s net with the Sevilla goalkeeper at full stretch.

The presence of Sami Khedira, making his Juventus debut, seemed to energise the home crowd and he made a good first impression when he received a pass from the marauding Juan Cuadrado and played a perfect lay-off to Paulo Dybala, who whipped a wicked, curling shot just wide from 20 yards.

Cuadrado was constantly involved, and his wing play down the right - along with that of Patrice Evra down the left - stretched Sevilla, who barely got out of their own half for much of the first period.

Juventus’ high line allowed Khedira to play in an advanced role, and he bombed into the box where he cut the ball back to Dybala, but his shot was well blocked by Marco Andreolli.

But just before half-time, Sevilla's previously steadfast defence was broken when Andrea Barzagli’s high cross found the leaping Morata, who rose above Grzegorz Krychowiak and Andreolli to place a header into the corner of the net.

There was no let-up in Juventus attacks after the break, and Dybala drew a good save from Rico when he looked to finish a brilliant, expansive passing move with a quick run and shot.

By the hour mark, the tempo had dropped, but Juventus continued to control the game, and Sevilla struggled to find Jose Antonio Reyes in attack, despite the constant energy and effort of Yevhen Konoplyanka.

A foul by Steven N'Zoni on Dybala gave Juventus a free-kick right on the edge of the box, and Dybala blasted a powerful shot that Rico could only parry away for a corner.

Dybala was denied again moments later when he slid in to meet Evra’s cross, only for Krychowiak to get there ahead of him and clear the danger.

Cuadrado stung the palms of Rico with a fierce drive from distance as Juventus used attack as an effective strategy to defend their lead, before Zaza, who came on as a substitute for Morata, broke clear and ran all of fifty yards before slotting the ball past Rico to seal a clinical victory for Juventus.

Juve are well and truly in control of Group D now thanks to a comfortable win. Allegri's men were made to work hard by Sevilla, but with the injury-ravaged Spaniard's offering very little attacking threat, an away win never looked likely. Morata and substitute Zaza sealed the points for the home side, who take their tally to six points from two games and up next in Europe is a double-header with Borussia Monchengladbach, while Sevilla prepare for Manchester City.

If it wasn't already pretty clear, that will wrap things up for Juve. Sevilla have rarely looked like finding the net to net and, even if they do now, it will be a case of too little, too late.

GOAL!!! JUVE WRAP THINGS UP! Kolo is beaten too easily at the halfway line by Dybala, only for Andreolli to sweep things up with a hefty challenge. Ultimately, however, the ball drops to Zaza and the forward races through, keeps his cool and slots under Rico. Game over.

Excellent defending by Kolo, yet again, as the Frenchman keeps up with Dybala and then shepherds him out wide, before winning a goal kick from the Argentine.

Munoz certainly isn't afraid of Bonucci. The 19-year-old gets in the experienced defender's face, ordering him to get on with things and the two exchange some words. The referee calms things down and they shake hands.

Tremendous tackle by Tremoulinas, as the Frenchman throws himself in to make a vital last-ditch block on Cuadrado, who tried to latch on to Dybala's lay-off in the area.

There is the first yellow card of the day. Coke goes in hard from behind on Alex Sandro and he got nowhere near the ball. Unsurprisingly the referee hands out a booking.

And that was Khedira's last involvement. The former Real Madrid man goes off for Alex Sandro.

Khedira feels he should have been given a penalty as the German goes down a little theatrically following a tackle from Krychowiak. The Juve man has thrown himself on the floor there.
  • 74'

Good play by Cuadrado, as the Colombian races into space and goes for goal from distance, testing Rico with a stinging drive. The goalkeeper is equal to the effort, though, palming it away.
  • 71'

Juve are trying to take control of things once again now, as they patiently knock the ball around in the final third. The visitors are defending well, though, as Tremoulinas first deals with Dybala in the area and then Andreolli beats Morata to the ball.
  • 69'

Clever cross from Konoplyanka on the right. The winger prods the ball into the danger area from a position just in from the wing and Iborra almost gets a touch, but the delivery ultimately sails just wide.
  • 68'

Respite for Sevilla, as an Evra pass goes slightly astray and the visitors mop up, before Reyes lures a foul from Khedira inside his own half.

Excellent defending by Krychowiak! Evra finds space once again out wide and drills a low cross into the danger zone. Morata misses it and Dybala looks set to steer home, only for the Poland international to get his toe on it and concede a corner.
  • 64'

Dybala heads across to take the corner and whips a decent delivery into the danger zone. Pogba meets it with a header, but it causes Sevilla no problems.
  • 63'

DYBALA! The Argentina international hammers a fierce effort through Sevilla's weak wall, but Rico punches it away from goal. Khedira hooks it back into the area but must settle for a corner.
  • 62'

Lovely move from Juve, as the hosts dazzle Sevilla with some quick passing. Dybala ends up in possession right on the edge of the area and is cynically tripped by N'Zonzi. Free-kick given, but again no yellow card.
  • 60'

Sevilla are looking at their most threatening when in possession down the right at the moment. Konoplyanka is again involved, finding Reyes and continuing his run before receiving the ball back from Coke. He gets another cross in, but Chiellini is there to clear.
  • 58'

Konoplyanka has been livelier since the break and he runs at Juve again down the right. He gets beyond Evra and Pogba, but his eventual cross deflects off the former and Buffon collects.
  • 57'

The away side are starting to see a little more of the ball again, though they still aren't creating anything. Their final pass really hasn't been good enough so far.
  • 55'

Sevilla relieve the pressure for a moment as Konoplyanka and Gameiro link up down the right. The Ukrainian winger disappoints, though, and Evra's tackle results in a throw-in for the visitors.
  • 53'

Brilliant footwork from Hernanes, as he produces a stepover and then another clever touch to take on Konoplyanka, playing the ball between the winger's legs. Morata is then swiftly fouled, as N'Zonzi again escapes a booking.
  • 51'

RICO SAVES! Excellent pass between Kolo and Tremoulinas by Bonucci and Dybala races on to it. The forward holds off the left-back and manages to get a poked shot away, but the goalkeeper makes a vital stop.
  • 50'

Juve have started the second half well, controlling the ball and biding their time. They are patiently knocking it around, with Sevilla well back in their own half.
  • 48'

Konoplyanka does well out on the right for Sevilla, as the Ukraine star takes up possession and races forward, before producing a wicked cross. Buffon launches himself out to meet it, though, catching it ahead of Gameiro.
  • 47'

Good play by Dybala, as the forward moves out wide and lures N'Zonzi into making a cynical foul. The Sevilla man is penalised but somehow escapes a booking.
  • 46'

Off we go for the second half, as Sevilla get us back under way.
  •

Juve 1-0 Sevilla: The referee brings an entertaining first half to a close in Turin, with the hosts holding on to a slender lead. Both sides have seen plenty of the ball during the first period, but Juve are just about deserving to be ahead and are so thanks to Morata's header just before the break. Sevilla are by no means out of this, but they have really lacked cutting edge so far.
  • 45' + 1'

    HALF-TIME!
  • 45'

Much better from Konoplyanka. The Ukrainian has been quiet in the final third so far tonight, but this time he darts inside and past Hernanes, before firing straight at Buffon from 25 yards.
  • 44'

That is such a waste. Sevilla take the free-kick quickly and Coke does little with it, before settling for a throw-in. That could have been a solid opportunity.
  • 43'

Krychowiak gets himself up the right now and finds himself bundled over in cynical fashion by Morata, giving the visitors a good opportunity for an instant reply.

    GoalMorata
GOAL!!! JUVE HAVE THE BREAKTHROUGH! Konoplyanka initially does well out wide to halt the progress of Cuadrado, but he simply plays it back to Barzagli who cross into the centre. Morata rises highest to head home, though Andreolli will be disappointed at not getting closer to him.
  • 39'

Juve are starting to get a little frustrated. Chances aren't falling to them, Sevilla are defending well and now a few refereeing decisions go against them. Chiellini thinks a throw-in should have been awarded in his favour and proceeds to slam the ball into the floor. He escapes without a booking, though.
  • 37'

What a waste! Juve find themselves short at the back, with Gameiro racing forward through the middle. The France striker gets into the attacking half and eventually pokes the ball to his right for Reyes, but his pass is slightly too heavy and his team-mate can't control it properly. He really should have nudged it wider to Krohn-Dehli.
  • 36'

Sevilla escape! Brilliant long ball towards the left side of the area from Bonucci. Khedira brings it down and surges past Coke, before cutting the ball back into the danger zone. Dybala gets to it and gets a shot away, but he is off balance and Andreolli makes a good block.
  • 34'

Good play by Reyes, as the former Arsenal man controls the ball just inside the Juve half with Chiellini on his back. The Italian is all over him and unsurprisingly finds himself penalised. Nothing comes of the free-kick, however.
  • 33'

This is an encouraging spell for the away side. Juve are camped around their own area as Sevilla probe. Reyes picks it up in the middle, turns away from Pogba and finds Tremoulinas. No cross is forthcoming, though, with only Gameiro in the area.
  • 31'

Better from Sevilla. They play their way out from the back with confidence and N'Zonzi releases Troumounas up the left. The ball is eventually switched over to the right for Konoplyanka, but his cross is well blocked by Evra.
  • 30'

Sevilla continue to persist with high balls played in the Juve area. This time Reyes clips it into box from the right towards Krohn-Dehli, but the Dane causes no problems physically for the hosts' defence.
  • 28'

Barzagli finds himself in unfamiliar territory as the experienced centre-back is left chasing a cross-field pass from Pogba. He manages to squeeze a cross in from the right, but his delivery goes out of play before curling back in again. His efforts are appreciated by the fans, though.
  • 27'

Sergio Rico has been a very assuring presence in goal for Sevilla so far. The 22-year-old comes out again to ease the pressure on his defence, collecting a high ball just inside his own area.
  • 25'

Juve are starting to exert a little control now. Sevilla are gradually dropping deeper and deeper, inviting pressure on to themselves. The visitors' attempts to move forward have largely fell flat in the last few minutes, with the hosts comfortably tidying up after hopeful knocks.
  • 23'

That's very close! Cuadrado races on to a brilliant diagonal pass played over the defence by Pogba and it put through on goal, but the assistant has his flag up.
  • 22'

Evra is proving a good outlet so far for Juve and he again gets beyond Coke. The former Manchester United's star's cross is deflected and causes Rico some difficulty, but the Spain international does get things under control quickly.
  • 21'

Krychowiak gets himself a little too close to Dybala there, as the Pole bundles over the Argentine there in the middle. He escapes a booking, however, perhaps luckily.
  • 20'

That's another brilliant delivery by Konoplyanka. The winger sends a powerful cross in from the right after Andreolli's charge up from the back. Tremoulinas collects on the other side of the pitch and crosses himself after beating Cuadrado, but Bonucci hacks it away.
  • 18'

DYBALA! The Argentina international's free-kick is pretty poor and Andreolli clears well with a header, but the hosts remain on the front foot. Cuadrado again eases past Krohn-Dehli, then passes inside to Khedira, who tees up the former Palermo forward. He curls a fine effort just wide of the top-let corner.
  • 17'

This is a great opportunity for Juve now, as Cuadrado attempts a give-and-go and is barged over by Krohn-Dehli. The referee brings play back after thinking about it for a moment.
  • 16'

Another good cross from the left for Juve, this time courtesy of Dybala. The attacker's chipped delivery looks to be planted right on Morata's head, but Kolo is there yet again to head clear.
  • 15'

Cuadrado is getting quite a lot of joy out on the right at the moment. He has the beating of Krohn-Dehli and he is often making the most of Tremoulinas' charges forward. That certainly looks like a positive avenue for the hosts.
  • 13'

End-to-end stuff here at the moment. Konoplyanka picks out a dangerous cross in the Sevilla attacking third and Barzagli is forced to clear under pressure. His pass is excellent and picks out Cuadrado, who switches the play to Dybala, who is wide open. A poor first touch allows Andreolli to make the tackle, though.
  • 11'

Sevilla are now enjoying a spell in possession, though they are biding their time and Kolo is forced to pass back to Rico. Nevertheless, they retain the ball and Tremoulinas eventually picks it up on the left. He squeezes a cross into the area, but Bonucci clears with ease.
  • 10'

And now Hernanes! Sevilla's closing and pressing has not been great so far and Juve's Brazilian midfielder is the latest to find space. He tries his luck from 30 yards and it goes just wide of the left-hand post.
  • 9'

Just wide! The home side are starting to take control of things. Evra now gets in down the left and finds the space to cross. Morata meets it with a glancing header but it goes past the right-hand post.
  • 8'

Good play by Juve. Pogba does well down the left, leaving a couple of defenders in knots before cutting the ball back to the edge of the area. Barzagli latches on to it and unleashes a fierce drive, but Krychowiak makes a vital block.
  • 7'

Reyes is the latest Sevilla player to vent his frustration at some aggressive defending. The attacking midfielder rose to meet the ball in the air and he produced a header, but Bonucci appeared to catch him with a flailing arm.
  • 5'

Brilliant defending by Kolo! Barzagli's fine through pass is played in behind the visitors' defence and Cuadrado collects. The winger produces a stepover and tries to skip past the French defence, who pulls off a perfect sliding tackle.
  • 5'

Excellent play by Cuadrado down the right, as he skips past Tremoulinas and whips a good delivery into the area. Morata meets it but sends a first-time effort well over the crossbar. Lively start to proceedings here!
  • 3'

Sevilla work the free-kick well, as Krohn-Dehli plays it in low towards the edge of the area and Reyes immediately lays it off for Konoplyanka. The Ukraine star races into the area but is well tackled by Khedira.
  • 3'

Gameio isn't very happy right now as he is clattered into from behind by Bonucci during an aerial challenge. The Frenchman is awarded a free-kick and eventually gets back to his feet.
  • 1'

Almost an amazing start for Juve! Morata does well towards the left, holding off a couple of challenges before knocking the ball over the Sevilla defence for Pogba, only for the midfielder to slice a volley well over. That's a let-off for the visitors.
  • 1'

Off we go in Turin! Juventus get things started.
  •

The two teams are out and the Champions League anthem rings out - kick-off is just a few moments away.
  •

Sevilla's injury problems are proving quite an issue for Emery. The coach is without Beto, Nico Pareja, Daniel Carrico, Adil Rami, Sergio Escudero, Gael Kakuta, Ever Banega and Vitolo, while former Juve striker Fernando Llorente is denied a return to his old home. Reserve players David Soria, Luismi and Juan Munoz all occupy places on the bench, but there is at least a first start for Yevhen Konoplyanka, who impressed so regularly for Dnipro in last season's Europa League.
  •

Allegri is boosted by the return of Sami Khedira, who had been struggling with a knee injury. The German slots in the midfield alongside Paul Pogba and Hernanes, while Cuadrado and Patrice Evra will provide the width. Up top Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata have the opportunity to link up, with Mario Mandzukic ruled out. Juve are also missing Claudio Marchisio from midfield, though they remain full of strength in centre.
  •

The Europa League champions have been wretched domestically so far this season, with Saturday's 3-2 win over Rayo Vallecano their first of the campaign. Injuries have caused havoc with Unai Emery's team until now and they have nine players missing today, including a host of key men. Their only other victory so far this season came against Borussia Monchengladbach in their first group outing, a comfortable 3-0 triumph. Perhaps returning to the scene of their third Europa League success - the Juventus Stadium - 16 months on will help provide some inspiration. Otherwise it could be a long night for the Spaniards.
  •

Juventus have endured a very difficult start to the season and, although they emerged victorious on matchday one of the Champions League, the Italian giants do not go into tonight's contest full of confidence. So far Max Allegri's men have managed just a single win in their six Serie A matches, with a 1-1 draw against Frosinone and a 2-1 defeat by Napoli all to show from their last two fixtures. Juve beat Manchester City away from home in their first European outing of the campaign and they will undoubtedly be cheered on by a packed crowd tonight, while Sevilla's own situation will also play into the hands of the Serie A champions.
