Chelsea have conceded as many goals in their last four Premier League home games (seven) as they had in the previous 17 at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have eight points from eight games. No team has ever finished higher than fifth in the Premier League after starting like this. The average finishing position from this start is 14th.
This is Chelsea’s lowest points total after eight games in a top-flight season since 1978-79 (4 points), when the two-points for a win rule was operating. Chelsea were relegated in this season.
Jose Mourinho has lost five of his last 10 Premier League games. Before that he'd lost only five of the previous 59.
Chelsea have picked up six bookings for simulation since the start of last season, twice as many as any other Premier League side
BRANISLAV IVANOVIC
Widely and heavily criticised for his dire performances this season, Ivanovic looks a shadow of the commanding defender we saw last season.
He has played exactly the same number of minutes and is still one of the ever-presents, but Ivanovic has been troubled over and over again by attacking players with pace.
This is shown in the 14 fouls conceded so far this season, compared to six at this point a year ago.
Overall, Chelsea's defence has been much leakier, with 17 league goals let in compared to just eight last season, and Ivanovic has been a reason for this.
JOHN TERRY
Many Chelsea fans attribute their disappointing start to their captain Terry being in and out of the team.
He has played a total of 369 league minutes so far compared to a complete 720 at this stage a year ago.
Even so, he could be part of the problem rather than the cure. Chelsea have conceded 10 with Terry in the team compared to eight last season, even though he's played less

CESC FABREGAS
Having just arrived from Barcelona, the signing of Fabregas was already looking like a Mourinho masterstroke this time last year.
The Spaniard had already contributed seven assists in his opening eight league games and scored one goal of his own.
This time round, the story is rather different - Fabregas hasn't scored yet and has created just one goal for his team-mates, an alarming slump in creativity.
What's more, the accuracy of his passing has decreased. Fabregas played 625 successful passes in the first part of last season, this time it is only 525.
Cesc Fabregas has seen a reduction in both completed passes and assists this season
NEMANJA MATIC
Mourinho humiliated Matic, who was excellent last season, by bringing him on and then subbing him back off again in Saturday's home loss to Southampton.
He was an ever-present at this point in 2014-15, but has completed just 612 minutes this time around.
Yet despite being in the thick of the action less, Matic has actually made more tackles (30 to 24), though this does suggest that Chelsea are enjoying less possession.
DIEGO COSTA
Costa was a sensation 12 months ago, quickly endearing himself to the Stamford Bridge faithful with nine goals in his opening eight league appearances.
Those have dried up, with the Spain international scoring just one so far in this campaign, the focus shifting instead to his lack of discipline.
