Cesc Fabregas has shared an old photo on social media of him and Gerard Pique in their Barcelona days, with Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal standing in the background.
The post, shared as a Throwback Thursday on Instagram, shows the pair, along with three other academy players, at a function attended by the then coach van Gaal, who was at the club twice between 1997-2000 and 2002-03.
Fabregas and Pique have remained firm friends since their childhood and were team-mates again at Barcelona when the Chelsea midfielder returned there in 2011.

Though Fabregas left Barcelona for Chelsea in the summer of 2014, the pair still regularly meet-up on international duty with Spain.
They were first separated when Fabregas joined Arsenal in 2003, a year before Pique's move to Manchester United.
The La Masia graduates both returned to Catalunya later in their playing careers, with Pique rejoining in 2008 and Fabregas following him there three years later.
The pair remain close friends and have enjoyed plenty of success at club and international level
In the picture Pique is receiving a strange look from current United boss van Gaal as he looks over at his childhood friend Fabregas.
The pair were both playing in the academy while the Dutchman was in charge of the first-team at Barcelona, with the picture looking to be from his first spell at the club between 1997 and 2000.
